Telangana, AP police unveil plan of action for 2018

The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh police have unveiled their plan of action for 2018 while bidding good bye for 2017.The directors general of police (DGsP), M Mahendar Reddy of Telangana and N Sambasiva Rao of Andhra Pradesh addressed the media on December 30 at Hyderabad and Vijayawada respectively.

Mahender Reddy said that Telangana Police will strive relentlessly to involve and partner Telangana, AP police unveil plan of action for 2018 with all stakeholders including local communities and other Government Departments for building a safer Telangana together.

He said that people, process, technology and leadership related initiatives would be taken up at all levels to ensure improved service delivery, combat existing and emerging crimes, organization building and transformation, workforce management, adoption of technology, partnership with community and domain experts, road safety and traffic management.

Referring to crime trends, the Telangana police chief said that there was a down trend in all sorts of crime including grave crime. However, he said that there was an increase in white-collar fraud and cyber crime.

Mahendar Reddy said the police department will continue its efforts for people friendly policing and build a safer Telangana.On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh police chief, Sambasiva Rao said that AP police followed the themes of legacy by exception, innovativeness, enhancing efficiency through technology adoption.

Referring to crime trends, he said the cognizable crime increased by 24.73 percent compared to 2016 while economic offences saw a down trend by 2.41 percent. However, cyber crimes registered an upward trend in AP.The police departments of both the states claimed that modernization of police forces, infrastructure, citizen oriented policing and welfare of police personnel would be their top priority.
