ZPHS teacher from Warangal selected for IELP

A teacher working in government run zilla parishad high school (ZPHS) in Gorrekunta of Warangal rural has been selected for the International Leaders in Education Programme (IELP) by Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States of America, for the year 2018-19, anchored by United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF).

Niharika Thoutam, who works as School Assistant for ZPHS teacher from Warangal selected for IELP Mathematics has been chosen for the programme after a rigorous selection procedure. She is the only female out of the four teachers selected from India. Scheduled to begin from January 2, 2018, only 64 higher grade teachers from all over the world have been selected for the programme. Holding Masters in Mathematics, English, Education and Post Graduate Diploma in English, she is currently pursuing Psychology. Niharika won several accolades and appreciations as the best teacher in her two decade long career.

She also worked as Assistant Girl child development officer in the district on deputation for about four years and a lead in Telangana Maths forum at mandal level and resource person for e-content development in National and State council of Educational Research and Training.

She is also active in donating note books to prevent school dropouts, sponsoring learning material, benches, distribution of corporate bback packs to the students. Further, she strives for empowerment of women, instrumental in preventing many child marriages and active in UN campaigns such as prevention of child trafficking and breast cancer etc. During her stay at United States she will work with group of outstanding scholars around the world, attend seminars and discuss best teaching practices.
