Brahmi’s name missing in voter list

One of the brand ambassadors of the Election Commission was a in a shock on April 30 when he found his name missing from the voters’ list.

Popular Telugu comedian Brahmanandam had to face the bitter experience when he went to cast his vote at a polling station in posh Jubilee Hills.

He was seen in advertisements exhorting the voters to go out and vote. "What do you want? One day celebration or five years happine


Don't sell your vote for money, alcohol, gifts," says one of the advertisements featuring the 58-year-old actor.

The disappointed actor and his wife had to return home without casting votes as their names were missing from the voters’ list.

It may be recalled the actor recently faced another bitter experience when a case was filed against him in the High Court for misuse of Padma award given to him.

According to rules, nobody should use Padma award, the highest civilian award, as a prefix or suffix to their names. However, the award was added as a prefix to his name in the titles of all the movies acted by him.

BJP leader N Indrasena Reddy filed a case in the High Court against Brahmanandam and another actor M Mohan Babu for misusing the Padma award for commercial purposes.

The high court directed the authorities to withdraw the awards given to both the actors and warned the actors not to use the title as a prefix

or suffix.
