Centre monitoring situation

The Centre had been closely monitoring the swine flu situation in States and assured that medicine, testing kits, personal protective equipment would be sent. Central teams have been sent to Telangana, Rajasthan and Gujarat to assess the situation and help them to manage the cases.

ana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.

Earlier, Health Secretary B P Sharma held a video conference to review the preparedness of the States in terms of adequacy of isolation wards, medicines, personal protective equipment and masks.

Awareness

Sufficiency of testing labs and testing kits was also reviewed along with measures taken to spread awareness among citizens. PPE and testing kits will be supplied from NCDC to states which have requisitioned them.  

States were asked to spell out assistance to augment stocks. Most of the states have reported adequate stock of medicine along with syrup for children and PPE/masks. The ministry has advised for inter-state transfer of drugs to states.

States have been advised to be careful about vulnerable population and those suffering from co-morbid conditions.
