The News Bureau, Jan 1

The controversial PK film, which came under scanner for screening obscene scenes, had already made Rs 246.32 crore at the Indian box office. The film was released on December 19.

Nation-wide protests distressed the film director Rajkumar Hirani but the criticism was unprecedented. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramnayam Swamy condemned the film for illustrating ugly scenes. He demanded probe by the directorate of reve

ue intelligence into the funds flow for producing the film.

Amir Khan appears almost nacked in a scene. It was not palatable to the filmgoers. Earlier, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists intensified their demonstrations against the cinema in Ahmedabad and Bhopal. They also resorted to violence at the theatres showing the film.

Subramanyam saw a conspiracy in the folw of funds from Dubai and ISI for production of the controversial film. Meanwhile, agitation by Bajrang Dal activists against the blockbuster film spread to more areas on Tuesday.

Director’s plea

But the film director refused to accept the allegations. He defended stating that it was not belittling Hinduism. On the other he said the film upheld the true spirit of religion.

Hirani said that he had no intention to hurt the sentiments of any person. Khan-starrer upholds the true spirit of religion, he asserted. In any case he was motivated to

condem the abuse of it.

He clarified that they respected all religions and faiths.
The film was inspired by the ideas of Sant Kabir and Mahatma Gandhi. The film brings the thought that all human beings are the same.
