PM salutes to scientists

The News Bureau, Jan 31

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has saluted Indian scientists on the successful test-firing of Agni V missile.

The country's most powerful strategic missile, Agni-V, was successfully test-fired at Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast on Saturday.

"Successful test-firing of Agni V from a canister makes the missile a prized asset to our forces. I salute our scientists for their efforts", the Prime Minister said.

Indian scientists conducted the first canister-based trial of its nuclear capable Agni-V missile, which is capable of hitting targets over 5,000 km away, from a military base in Odisha.

The long range missile was fired from a mobile vehicle at the Inner Wheeler Island, a launch site in Bhadrak district about 200 km from Bhubaneswar.

To athletes too

The Prime Minister also gave best wishes to all the athletes participating in the 35th national games.

"My best wishes to all the athletes participating in the national games that commenced in Kerala,” the Prime Minister said.
