Rs 500 cr for heritage dev

Minister of Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu informed that Rs 500 cr would be provided to 12 cities under National Heritage Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY).

HRIDAY that seeks to preserve and rejuvenate the rich cultural heritage of the country was launched by the minister on Wednesday.  He urged the States and local urban bodies to supplement their resources for development of heritage cities. Naidu dis

ributed sanction letters to 12 cities.

Varanasi was allocated Rs 89.31 crore, Amritsar-Rs 69.31 crore, Warangal (Telangana) – Rs 40.54 crore, Ajmer-Rs.40.04 crore, Gaya-Rs.40.04 crore, Mathura-Rs.40.04 crore, Kanchipuram-Rs.23.04 crore and Vellankini (TN) – Rs.22.26 crore, Amaravati (AP) – Rs.22.26 crore, Badami (Karnataka) – Rs.22.26 crore, Dwaraka (Gujarat)-Rs.22.26 crore and Puri-Rs.22.54 crore.

HRIDAY seeking to preserve and rejuvenate the rich cultural heritage was launched by the minister on Wednesday. Minister of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma and MPs attended.

He said no nation can move forward ignoring its cultural heritage and legacy. India is a diverse land of languages and religions and we need to preserve the legacy of all kinds. HRIDAY is a step towards reviving the soul of cities hosting such rich heritage.
