Cops’ links with Nayeem: CM orders probe

Hyderabad, May, 22 ( The News ):

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has agreed in principle for ordering an enquiry into the nexus of top khakhis with the slain gangster Nayeem of Nalgonda who had implication with terrorists and Naxals. In March top officials met the chief minister

at the State Assembly here and handed over the Vigilance Department’s special report which exposed the police officers and the political representatives who maintained friendly ties with the noted criminal Nayeem.

Top cops prevailed upon the chief minister that it would be unsafe for both the government and the police department if the shady deals with Nayeem were brought under wraps and guilty police officers were spared. As many as 16 officers were found fault by the vigilance department. Five of them have already been suspended – M Srinivas, Addl SP, CID, Ch Srinivas, ACP, CCS, M Srinivas, ACP, Mirchowk, Hyderabad, Mastan, CI, Sangareddy and Rajgopal, CI, Kothagudem. This apart, 20 more senior cops were said to be under the influence of Nayeem, who had trapped the khakhis in his videos when they all enjoyed the hospitality of the gangster.

Though the SIT team had investigated extensively earlier, its pro

ogress was hampered by the government for protecting the interests of IPS officers. It went to such an extent that a national daily correspondent drew blank and returned when the DSP, Bhongir chose to remain uncommunicative over the cited case. The vigilance report pointed out that over 16 police officers were found guilty for amassing huge assets.

Gyadari Kishore, TRS MLA, Thungaturti and MLC Nethi Vidyasagar were also involved neck deep as they utilized the services of criminal Nayeem for their selfish ends like employing his men as hired goons and for cornering the sympathizers of Naxals. Nethi Vidyasagar has already been interrogated by the police, according to reliable sources.
